And the Emmy goes to...
Scott Egan...most amazing husband and father of the year!
Like many of the hours of our day, this blog centers on our children. Scott and I treasure the moments we have alone, but love this time of being a foursome. I truly marvel at the man I married...it may embarrass him, but here are a few of his recent triumphs as a husband, father and scientist.
-Upon receiving a phone call from his sobbing wife in the Walmart parking lot (who had just gotten sick outside of the car and was devastated to be ill on her son's second b-day), Scott picked up both boys, sack lunches and 30 cupcakes and headed to a playgroup. Ten moms (most of whom were previously strangers to Scott) and about 20 children showed my hubby a great time that morning, and he was the hit of the party.
-Round 2 of the stomach bug involved poor Sawyer James. Scott calmly held our sweet boy for hours between his bouts of sickness (I got the job of cleaning!) and slept right outside his door for the rest of the evening.
-On Sunday, Scott was determined to create a "pake"...a pie embedded in a cake. His motivation and determination was quite a sight, and the pake was DELICIOUS! Chocolate always makes a family happy!
-Scott recently submitted an article to the journal, Evolution. This paper has been the outcome of several years of hard work, and I am so proud of his success.
-I can't forget to mention that Scott brings a smile to my face and makes me laugh each and every day.
Scott, my cup runneth over...
A delicious piece of "pake" is featured below!
A poor substitute
Sawyer, please don't drink and drive
I didn't plan on having to begin these life lessons quite this young. The boys are smitten with their new tractor and drive it all over the yard. Sawyer, please remember that when you let go of the steering wheel to drink your juice box that it is also a wise idea to take your foot off the gas pedal.

Happy 2nd birthday, Sawyer!
The birthday boy enjoying his presents...
and ready for his cupcakes!
Yummy!!
It's hard to believe that 2 years ago, I gave birth to our sweet (and boisterous) second son, Sawyer James Egan. Scott and I were both so overwhelmed with love the instant we saw (and heard) him. It's been a busy two years with job changes and multiple moves, but Sawyer has brought such joy and laughter to our family.
We celebrated with family and friends in TX, and Sawyer absolutely relished being the center of attention. Unfortunately, mommy has been sick, but Daddy (the unbelievable man that he is) stepped up and took both boys to playgroup where Sawyer got to see his friends and be treated to cupcakes and singing. Again, he ate up the spotlight...and the cupcakes! See-saw loves his food...as you can see above! Our little family is headed to the Shedd Aquarium (in Chicago) this weekend, which will be a real treat for my baby boy (I mean big boy) since he LOVES fish, sharks, dolphins, polar bears, etc. We are so lucky to be your parents, Sawyer, and we love watching you grow into your own unique self....an amazing little boy.
At 2 Sawyer loves:
-his big brother, Jack...they are playing so well together these days
-trains, trains and more trains
-eating (still growing at a rapid pace)
-matchbox cars and his new racetrack
-riding his new John Deere tractor and Daddy's tractor
-being outside in this beautiful IN weather
-reading books (especially about trains, cars or animals)
-his "Raffi" and his thumb
-rolling around naked after bath time (blackmail pictures for the future)
-playing hide and go seek
-animals
-his puppet theater
-making us laugh
-flirting with girls
-singing songs (Happy Birthday, ABC's, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, the weather song and the days of the week song)
-counting to 15 (this started happening after two days of preschool...the tuition is worth it! :) He particularly loves counting from 5-15?)
-watching "moomies" (aka movies...particularly Super Why, Diego and Dora)
-talking my ear off!
-doing things on his own while at the same time still being the baby
We love you, See-Saw. Happy 2nd birthday!

To infinity and beyond!
Jack has fallen in love with Buzz Lightyear....literally, over the moon. In fact, he now refers to himself as Buzz Lightyear and will correct you if you call him Jack. Additionally, he's abandoned his dreams of becoming an astronaut and now talks of his future as a space ranger. I'm guessing we'll ride the Toy Story Mania ride a Disney World a few times during our Sept. trip??

Off to school
Jack and Sawyer both woke up this morning excited for school. It's hard to believe that Jack is now in the 4 year old class, and Sawyer is even going to school!
Jack continuously reminded Sawyer that he would be right down the hall if Sawyer needed him...so sweet!
I was so excited for the boys today, but my stomach was in knots for my little See-Saw. Overall, they both had a really great day. Jack seemed to get right back into the swing of things, and Sawyer's teachers said his overall mood was "playful." He cried a couple times, but I think that is to be expected in a room full of emotional 2 year old toddlers.
There is never a dull moment in this family, and things can't go too perfectly...as I was bringing Sawyer in from the car (he was very sleepy), he proceeded to get sick everywhere in our kitchen! I'm hoping it was just nerves, exhaustion, etc., so we don't miss our second day of school.
